Helix Nebula @ TERENA Networking Conference 2012

The TERENA Network Conference, held in Reykjavik, from the 21 to the 24 of May 2012 hosted a presentation of Helix Nebula given by Bob Jones, Head of CERN's Openlab IT department.
The purpose of presenting Helix Nebula at the TERENA Network Conference was to engage with the National Research and Education Networks in view of providing connectivity to the supply-side data centres as part of the inter-operability with existing publicly funded e-infrastructures (GEANT, EGI, PRACE).

The advantage of having this inter-operability is that it will encourage more e-infrastructure users to consider using commercial cloud services and also support the hybrid-cloud model which the majority of the public research sector say is their preferred approach.

You can find the presentation here.

Helix Nebula is a new, pioneering partnership between leading IT providers and four of Europe’s biggest research centres, CERN, EMBL, ESA and PIC, charting a course towards sustainable cloud services for the research communities - the Science Cloud.
