Europe’s Leading Public-Private Partnership for Cloud

The Helix Nebula Initiative is a partnership between industry, space and science to establish a dynamic ecosystem, benefiting from open cloud services for the seamless integration of science into a business environment. Today, the partnership counts over 40 public and private partners.

CERN presented Helix Nebula at the second VAMP Workshop on September 30th & October 1st, 2013 in Espoo (Helsinki Metropolitan area), Finland.

TERENA and SURFnet organized the second VAMP workshop on September 30th & October 1st, 2013 in Helsinki, Finland.

Goal of VAMP2013 was to foster the deployment of identity management and collaboration tools within the research communities. The organisers invited IT architects of international Research Communities, identity federations and providers of (collaborative) infrastructures for research to participate in this interactive workshop.

Is access to federated clouds the killer app for FIM?

At a series of workshops in Helsinki this week the research communities explored how they can deploy federated identity management (FIM) systems for their users. A common theme was to use such an approach to provide access to cloud services from multiple suppliers and Bob Jones spoke about how Helix Nebula is working to put in place such a facility.
