Europe’s Leading Public-Private Partnership for Cloud

The Helix Nebula Initiative is a partnership between industry, space and science to establish a dynamic ecosystem, benefiting from open cloud services for the seamless integration of science into a business environment. Today, the partnership counts over 40 public and private partners.

Past Events

CERN, EMBL, ESA, Atos, T-Systems & Cloudsigma at DG-CONNECT, Excellence in Science, 08 March 2013
CERN, EMBL, ESA the flagship use cases and Atos, T-Systems and Cloudsigma, the suppliers working group presented Helix Nebula aspects to DG-CONNECT, Excellence in Science workshop.

T-Systems and CloudSigma represented Helix Nebula at the European Cloud Computing Conference.

CERN represented Helix Nebula at the 10th e-Infrastrusture Concentration Meeting in Brussels on the 6th and 7th of March.

The 10th e-Infrastructure Concertation Meeting was organised by the Commission Services with the support of the e-ScienceTalk project.
The main aim of the meeting was to bring projects together in order to discuss issues related to the completion of the 7th Framework Programme and the start of an e-infrastructures activity during Horizon 2020 (2014-2020).

T-Systems attended the TF Storage meeting of TERENA network in Berlin on the 5th-6th of March.

TERENA has EMBL, CERN and ESA as associate members therefore TERENA watches closely their projects, especially the Helix Nebula. The approach to team up with commercial providers delivering custom-made cloud services to the scientific community is actually in favour of TERENA.
T- Systems (Jurry dela Mar) presented to TERENA the  Helix Nebula and all about the potential partnership with the R&E sector of TERENA.

CloudSigma, Open Nebula, ESA and  T-Systems representatives will be present at Cloudscape V "Cloud for savings, Cloud for quality" in Brussels, Belgium, 27 - 28 February 2013, on behalf of HelixNebula. ESA and Cloudsigma will make a joint presentation of HN.

Robert Jenkins (CloudSigma) will present Helix Nebula - the Science Cloud at the "Cloud Expo Europe", 29-30 January 2013, London.
Ian Bird (CERN) will represent the demand-side partners of the Helix Nebula project in the same event.

Global positioning and satellite navigation systems, as well as space-based telecommunications systems and earth, ocean and atmosphere observation and surveillance, know no frontier other than those imposed by their own technological limits.

Helix Nebula was represented in the European Space Policy Conference by Jurry de la Mar, T-Systems. For more information please visit http://www.spaceconference.eu/2013/en_GB/programme.html

This high-level European event organised by the Helix Nebula consortium is part of an overall cloud computing initiative which aims to build a cloud computing platform offering a unique resource to governments, businesses and citizens. Participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with cloud computing experts, SMEs, representatives of the European Commission and leading research centres. Each participant will actively contribute to shaping the overall cloud strategy and provide feedback and suggestions on the results achieved during the proof of concept stage.

Cloudsigma will present Helix Nebula in the Eastern Europe Partnership Event, 11-12 December 2012, the
Academy of Sciences of Moldova in Chisinau, Moldova.
