Helix Nebula @ Future Internet Assembly, 18-20 March 2014, Athens, Greece

The 2014 Future Internet Assembly was entitled  "FIA2014 - Reshaping Infrastructure for Innovation". Key themes at this year's Assembly were: Cloud federation and software defined networking; how national research and education networks are harnessing cloud computing; innovation potential in Future Internet & FIRE programmes; open source and cloud computing; FI-driven digital business innovation and learning on the Internet.

During FIA 2014 Helix Nebula was highlighted at the CloudWATCH project stand which featured 2 demos: (1) Standards-based Interoperable Cloud Using the EGI Federated Cloud – Helix Nebula Use Case and (2)Exploiting the EGI FedCloud and the CHAIN-REDS Cloud Testbed with the Catania Science Gateway Framework.

The Helix Nebula focused demo showcased the European Space Agency Proof of Concept of the Helix Nebula initiative. The demo showed how users, using SlipStream, are able to see all the EGI Federated Cloud resources under the same hood, enabling them to provision reliably across them all, improving resource sharing and utilisation.
