Europe’s Leading Public-Private Partnership for Cloud

The Helix Nebula Initiative is a partnership between industry, space and science to establish a dynamic ecosystem, benefiting from open cloud services for the seamless integration of science into a business environment. Today, the partnership counts over 40 public and private partners.

Resources

Helix Nebula - the Science Cloud is funded as a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP). All members of the consortium provide manpower, know-how and/or in-kind (data, communities, tools, etc.) resources to enable this ecosystem to be created. All cloud resources consumed by the partners as users are paid for by the partners themselves.

The European Commission strongly supports the Helix Nebula initiative, considered as a forerunner of the forthcoming Integrated Cloud Computing Strategy for the European Union. The European Commission participates to the funding of this initiative with a two-year support action project that funds the framework for the initiative and the dissemination activities while the development of the cloud services and the cost of their usage is borne by the companies and public organisations involved.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no [312301].
